The brand Blue Chip® denotes a hob made of high-speed steel (HSS).
This material can be processed both with dry cutting and high-speed cutting
and has a high production consistency combined with and high gear accuracy and surface quality.
Cutting without cooling lubricants has become more and more important the last years.
Up to now, cutting metal tools were applied to do this, but they are very expensive and difficult in handling.
Our concept was to produce a milling cutter being able to resist abrasing conditions like high-speed cutting
and high temperatures and having a high rate of feed and little abrasion only.
A composition out of
- powder metallurgical produced HSS substrate,
- optimal chip notch design and cutting edge geometry of the milling cutter,
- adapted milling cutter layout,
- and a super hard coating
allow a high idle time and a short manufacturing time.
Advantages of the Blue Chip® hob are :
- unproblematic re-sharpening and re-coating (in contrast to the hard metal hob),
- cutting without cooling lubricants, that means reduction of the production costs,
- reduction of the environmental pollution and, therefore,
- an ecological production is allowed.
There are many other advantages when wet cutting material that cannot be cut easily.
